Social Service Team
Tess Mirabal, Director of Resident Services & Community Relations, oversees the coordination of all resident social service needs for its properties. She has 16+ years experience in the social service field and has operated social service programs, specifically within public housing and Section 8 HUD housing properties, since 2000.
Tess provides ongoing training and guidance to support the service department employees and volunteer staff providing services to YES Housing residents. She is also responsible for securing the funding necessary to deliver resident services through various local, state, federal and foundation grant sources.
Patsy Silva, Service Coordinator, oversees the coordination of services for the residents of the Brentwood Gardens and Solar Villa Apartments in Albuquerque, NM. Patsy has been in this position since 2007 at which time she started as an AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteer. She served three years as a VISTA in the capacity of Service Coordinator and became a YES employee when these properties were awarded a HUD Service Coordinator grant. She creates and promotes an atmosphere of care and respect to help improve the quality of life for all the residents by bringing in workshops, presentations, health and education programs, social functions and furthering her education as it relates to the needs of the elderly and non-elderly disabled. Prior to this assignment, she was retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools after 31 years of service and was actively painting murals.
Alice Franco, Service Coordinator, oversees the coordination of services for the residents of the Roswell Summit and Wildewood Apartments in Roswell, NM. She has been in this position since 2007. As a Service Coordinator, Alice assists residents in applying and obtaining services necessary to remain living independently and ensure their health and happiness. Such services include: SSI, Medicaid, Low Income Heat and Energy Assistance Program, SNAP Program, Commodities, Transportation, Health & Wellness Programs and numerous social opportunities. She finds that being bilingual in Spanish & English has been an asset to her community of residents who have utilized this resource to access services in their native language. During her time with YES Housing, Alice has also served on the Board of the Region VI Housing Authority (Eastern Region Housing Authority). Alice enjoys furthering her education in order to continue assisting each resident to the best of her ability.
